🇨🇴 Personal Life
I grew up in Canton, Georgia and was adopted from Cali, Colombia. My adoption and meeting my birth family instilled in me a deep sense of gratitude for all experiences and opportunities.
My hobbies include classical guitar, drone photography, hiking, traveling, and kickboxing.
My Personal Values
We all have personal values, but they're rarely articulated or factored into our decisions. So, I wanted to list and explain my core values. They all influence how I behave with family, friends, colleagues, and everyone else. The order of this list matters and each value builds on the last.
1. Gratitude
"The quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness."
This fundamental value comes from my unique life experiences. In any situation, I remember that I'm fortunate to be here and have the experience.
2. Integrity
"The quality of being honest and having strong moral principles; Consistency."
I strive to do what is right over what is selfish, quicker, or easier. This leads me to be more thoughtful, transparent, and accountable.
3. Dependability
"The quality of being able to be relied on; trustworthiness or constancy. Commitment."
I want to express my gratitude for any opportunity, so dependability shows that I value the experience and respect the people involved.
4. Diligence
"Careful, persistent, sincere effort to accomplish what is undertaken; persistent exertion of body or mind."
I love carefully analyzing details and thinking through outcomes. This ensures I provide the best possible deliverable within the allotted time.
5. Empathy
"The ability to understand the feelings of another. To consider how their background affects their behavior."
This value is especially relevant in design. With genuine empathy for my colleagues and users, I can cater my decisions to best support their needs.
Lastly, how do you define Design?
It's such an intuitive concept, but difficult to put into words. So, this is my favorite definition. It's wonderfully concise and applicable to every design discipline.
"The conscious and intuitive effort to impose meaningful order."
