About Me

Hey there! I'm an Interaction Designer graduating from Kennesaw State University in May, 2021. I currently have an internship with Paya, a financial tech company. I am on the job market looking for engaging Interaction Design jobs in Atlanta and possibly around the country.

My About page is more comprehensive than on most portfolios. I put in this much detail because I want you to understand me and see how my personality influences my designs. Me at Clingman's Dome, Great Smokey Mountains National Park, NC

Born in Cali, Colombia.
Raised in Canton, GA.

I was born in the city of Cali on January 12th, 1998. My birth mother is a native American in the Páez tribe. I am her third son and she was unable to support the three of us. Against the orders of the tribal leaders, she placed me in an orphanage and I was adopted by an American family. I wouldn't know my birth family for fifteen years. My adopted family brought me back to Lawrenceville, Georgia where I lived the first two years of my life. We then moved to Canton, Georgia where I have lived since then.

I was raised in a loving home with American culture, but my adopted family has always recognized my Colombian heritage. Unfortunately, I didn't know much about my birth family and had no way to contact them. That all changed when my mom found my birth mother online.

I first spoke to my birth mother when I was sixteen. It was wonderful to hear her unconditional love and gratitude for my life here. My family and I were able to visit my birth family soon after we got in contact. The experience of meeting them and being in my birth country was incredible. I've had the privilege of visiting twice and hope to go back after the pandemic. I'm forever grateful to my birth mother's sacrifice of putting me up for adoption and letting me have a wonderful life in the US.

My Personal Values

We all have personal values, but we rarely articulate them and consider them in our decision making. So, I wanted to list out my fundamental values for my own sake. But, they're also listed here so you begin to see how I behave with friends, coworkers, and employers, and really everyone else.

The order of this list matters and each value builds on the last.

Gratitude

  • The quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness.
  • My most fundamental value that comes from my unique life experiences. Regardless of the situation, I always remember that I am fortunate to be here and have the experience.

Integrity

  • The quality of being honest and having strong moral principles; moral uprightness. Consistency.
  • I strive to choose what is right over what is selfish, quicker, or easier. Without consistent moral standards, my values are just empty promises. I hope to maintain my integrity throughout my career.

Dependability

  • the quality of being able to be relied on; trustworthiness or constancy. Commitment
  • Practice what you preach. I want to prove my gratitude for any opportunity, so dependability shows that I value the experience.

Diligence

  • Careful, persistent, earnest (sincere and intense conviction) effort to accomplish what is undertaken; persistent exertion of body or mind.
  • Do the right thing even when no one is watching. This value is possibly the most important in design. I want to address every challenge so that my users don't have to when they use the final product. Diligence also proves my gratitude for the assignment and my commitment to do the work to the best of my abilities.

Understanding

  • Sympathetically aware of other people's feelings; tolerant and forgiving. Consider a person’s background, what experience they bring to this situation, and how this affects their behavior.
  • This value relates to my interactions with other people and relies on my consistent gratitude. A coworker may respond harshly to my work or a customer might get angry with me (when I worked in restaurants). In either situation, I recognize that I don't know what else is going on in their life that influenced their behavior. I also remind myself that I'm fortunate to have a great job.
